Single-payer is our fight
Healthcare is a human right
Over 500,000 New Jerseyans would be kicked off their insurance under Republican healthcare plans. People would lose coverage for pre-existing conditions, Medicaid funding would be slashed, and even people with insurance through their employer would face lifetime limits on benefits. It is an outrage.
Equally outrageous is the fact that currently under the Affordable Care Act, 700,000 New Jerseyans already lack health insurance. Without regular care, people have to wait out illnesses until they are forced to use emergency services, and by then it’s often too late.
What can I do?
Support single-payer healthcare. Single-payer is a comprehensive public healthcare system that would replace the current private insurance market. You’d still see your same doctors, but all payment would happen through the government.
Single-payer covers everyone. It would cover mental health, dental, vision and long-term care services, while eliminating premiums, deductibles and co-pays. It would allow us to stop fighting over health insurance and fight for health justice.
How can I do it?
Work with us! We’ve been door-knocking and canvassing to build the movement for Medicare for All.
We know that single-payer healthcare isn’t going to happen under Donald Trump or Chris Christie. But it’s crucial to build the base for it now, so that when we are in a position to implement it we don’t get bogged down in the legislative process. Tens of thousands of people die every year due to lack of access to healthcare, so we need to build pressure so that legislation can actually serve the people.
If we work together, we can build a healthcare system that works for all of us.
